For the bicycling enthusiast the northern California and southern Oregon region is an excellent place for Road Biking, Bicycle Touring and Mountain Biking. With little traffic, miles of roads and trails winding through high mountains, the region rivals any cycling haven in North America.
Some of the Mt. Biking and Cyclocross hot spots can be found around Whiskey Town Lake and Buckhorn Mountain, on the slopes of Mt. Shasta, The Hills to the west of Yreka, In the hills above Lithia Park in Ashland, and the list goes on and on. There are thousands of acres land, fire roads and logging roads that are maintained by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and U.S. Forest Service where cycling is permitted.
There are plenty of lonely roads that crisscross picturesque farmland, ranches, rolling foothills and mountains that road cyclists searching for relatively traffic free riding love. For those looking for a challenge or just to get out and ride with fellow cyclists, check out the links below for the Siskiyou and Summit Century rides, guaranteed to get your heart pumping.
